Open D6 Resurrected

January 6th, 2010

As some of you may know, the D6 System has unofficially been released to OGL.  Several books have been cleared by Eric Gibson of West End Games to be released under the OGL and the PDF versions of the books are available for free now.  There were big plans to get the ball rolling on having the D6 System out for everyone to use, but those plans pretty much fizzled with the decision by Eric Gibson to stop communicating with the public at large.

Fortunately there are people in the D6 community who want to continue with what was started.  Travis Wooten, aka Wraith on the WEGFanSite forums, has started a drive to get people working on and thinking about D6.  He’s basically attempting to resurrect the Open D6 movement.  He’s got a wiki page, a Facebook page and even a video on YouTube.  You can read more about what his intent and desire is by going to the WEGFanSite and checking the Open D6 Resurrection forum.  Or, if you want, you can go to the wikia page at http://opend6.wikia.com/wiki/Open_D6_Resurrection_Wiki .

So go check out what’s brewing with D6!

Star Wars Ship Construction

May 5th, 2009

Have you ever wanted to make your own starships in Star Wars but never felt you could do it and come up with a reasonable price and reasonable stats for it?  Well this is for you.  This PDF has a system for creating starships, both fighters and capital ships, for use in the Star Wars roleplaying game.  Now you can tell how much you can put into a certain ship based on its size.  Now you can tell how many weapons can be on the ship.  Now you’ll know how much a ship like that will cost…and it all fits within the Star Wars universe.

So enter the shipyards, open the PDF, and start making ships!

The first tank used by the Germans in World War Two.  This tank, while lightly armed, proved fairly effective early on.  Once it encountered more stout tanks, it was quickly overshadowed.

Star Wars: Mountain Assault Stormtrooper

August 23rd, 2008

Written and illustrated by Hisham.

Imperial Mountain Assault Stormtroopers are specialized divisions of the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps. They are deployed where high altitude and cold weather environment operations. They are so rare that sometimes one battalion can be found in a single sector, attached to a Sector Group commanding officer. However, these troopers are very mobile and move around whenever required quite readily.

Mountain Assault Stormtroopers can be found guarding Imperial military installations, or where a quick and stealthy force is needed to sabotage rebel outposts or safeworlds where bases are built on mountaintops. They are deployed usually from Sentinel-class landers onto mountain ledges or glaciers, thereafter the troopers get to work immediately ascending up or down a treacherous and frozen mountainside on their way to accomplish a mission. Star Wars: Arakyd Diamondback Jamming Droid

August 10th, 2008

A lesser known droid manufactured by Arakyd Industries is the Diamondback orbital jamming droid. Used almost exclusively by Imperial Ubiqtorate, the small shieldless Diamondbacks are usually ejected into orbit around planets where it is crucial that their intra- and interplanetary radio and hyperwave communications are to be disrupted, pending arrival of a proper Imperial military incursion force. Usually enough droids are deployed around a planet at synchronous orbit to ensure full disruption coverage of the world. No calls for external aid nor communications to coordinate surface forces to repel an incursion can be made.

The Diamondback is primarily a dome with built-in photoreceptors and other EM sensors. The jamming antenna is mounted at the end of a pylon which extends downwards from the bottom of the dome. Also fixed upon gimbals on the pylon is a small but effective anti-starfighter quad laser cannon, whose power is fed from a generator placed within the pylon. Finally, smaller comm rectennae allows for the droid to communicate with other Diamondbacks or a command ship.

Type: Arakyd Diamondback Orbital Jamming Droid
Scale: Starfighter
DEXTERITY 2D

Arakyd Diamondback

Blaster 4D, dodge 2D+2
KNOWLEDGE 1D
Language 3D+2, planetary systems 3D
MECHANICAL 4D
Communications 5D+2, sensors 4D+2
PERCEPTION 1D
STRENGTH 3D
TECHNICAL 1D
Equipment:
-Communications Slicing Packing
-Fourth Degree Droid Brain
-Built-in Comlink & Communications Array
-Quad Laser Cannon (1-3/12/25) Damage: 4D+2
Space: 5
Size: 3.27 meters tall

GM Notes: The Diamondbacks uses the blaster skill to shoot at incoming ships when their cover are blown. To attempt to cut through the jamming, roll your PC’s communications skill against the droid’s communication skill as the difficulty number. The jamming only works in line of sight. If only one droid is jamming the planet, a person on the far side will still be able to communicate.

West End Games closing up shop

July 23rd, 2008

Since I don’t have a place for news with this version of the site, I’ll just post this as an article.  If you take a gander at the West End Games forums you’ll see that West End Games has announced that they are “done” and will be selling off their rights.

Alas, how I would like to have the money on hand to purchase the rights for the D6 system.  Regardless of what happens, I will continue to run this site and will continue to ramble on about the possibilities of the D6 system.

One thing I am currently working on is a new skill list for D6.  When it is completed it will provide both a “generic” listing for those people who like keeping things quite simple, and a more detailed listing for those that like details.  As soon as I feel confident on the layout, I will be posting it on this site.

So, D6 fans, hang in there!

Star Wars: Anakin’s Delta 7 Aethersprite starfighter

May 24th, 2008

The Clone Wars were a trying time for Anakin Skywalker, as he faced ceaseless warfare on scattered worlds while struggling to keep his marriage a secret, and chafing under the restrictions of the Jedi order. He found escape in his childhood love of flight, and in the simple joy of tinkering with machinery. The end result of these two passions was a heavily modified starfighter exclusive to the Chosen One.

Star Wars: Thunderlord class Dreadnought

May 24th, 2008

Four thousand years before the horrors of the Sith Wars and over eight millennia before the mighty behemoths of the Imperial Navy plyed the spacelanes, one class of ship was the absolute last word in naval warfare supremacy: the Thunderlord-class Dreadnought.

Over two miles long and bristling with weaponry that would force even modern warships into evasive maneuvers, the Thunderlord-class was one of the architectural marvels of its age and the pride of the Galactic Republic Navy. Loosely based upon the design of the even larger Cal-class battleships from two millennia earlier, the Thunderlord relied on heavy armor and overwhelming firepower to survive in combat. Ancient naval reports make it clear that it achieved these goals with surpassing excellence. During their service life with the Republic Navy, a time fraught with internecine warfare and brushfire conflicts, not a single Thunderlord was lost in combat.

This idea originally created by Kayle Skolaris.
